1991 – Thousand Year Camphorwood Statue of Ksitigarbha

In the year of 1991, a 9-feet thousand year camphor wood made statue of Ksitigarbha was safely delivered and stored in the main hall of the temple. The profound spirit and perseverance of Ksitigarbha's vow of “Not Becoming Buddha Till The Hell Realm is Empty” has since become the tradition and yearly event in the month of July to hold the “Ullambana Puja” which attracts thousands of devotee to the grand practice.


1993 – Trinity of Huayan

In 1993, the temple was honored with three majestic statues of “The Trinity of Huayan" and Buddha relics from the Dharma King (Head of Monk) of Thailand. It was an auspicious event and marked the fruition of the dharma practice.


1993 – The Origin of Sau Seng Lum Haemodialysis Centre

One day, a woman came to the temple with her child and said that she would like to entrust the child to the temple and that she will not live long. She had diagnosed with kidney disease and her husband had abandoned her; costly medical expenses has become a burden to her and it forced her to end her life.

The misfortune of this woman touched the heart of the Master and deeply aroused her compassion. She truly understands that human's birth, old age, sickness, and death are all suffering. When one of the family members of a poor family unfortunately diagnosed with disease, it could be a suffering of suffering! Furthermore, for the patient to face the long-term dialysis treatment, and not being able to work, will cause the whole family into a difficult situation.

In view of this, the Master volunteered to undertake this arduous project with loving kindness and compassion. In 1994, she founded Sau Seng Lum Haemodialysis Centre and began serving the public with four dialysis machines.


1997 – Sau Seng Lum Loving Charity Card

On 1st September 1997, Sau Seng Lum Loving Charity Card was launched with the objective to provide sustainable and long-term care for the poor and needy. This card was used to raise fund for Yayasan Kebajikan SSL Haemodialysis and Yayasan Kebajikan SSL Strok Dan Pembangunan Masyarakat.


1999 – Sau Seng Lum Newsletter

On 6thOctober 1999, Sau Seng Lum published its quarterly newsletter for free distribution to its devotees and public readers. Each issue was printed 100,000 copies. Through this newsletter, people from different places in the country can be updated on the information related to medical, cultural and other upcoming events in Sau Seng Lum.

In line with the changes of habits in reading, and in order to save on printing costs and to protect the environment, Sau Seng Lum has instead published the digital copy on its website for online reading by more people. This also enables the readers to obtain first-hand information online.


1999 – Thousands Arm & Thousands Eyes Guan Yin

During end of December 1999, a brass statue of Guan Yin (Great Compassion) Bodhisattva with thousand arms and thousand eyes was transported from China to the temple. The magnificent statue stands 10-feet high and weighs 2 ½ tons, it was designed and crafted by a renowned sculptor in China.

On 25th January 2000, Master Bo Yuan was invited to perform the inauguration ceremony, it was graced by the chanting of thousand devotees led by the renowned masters and monks.
